Gladiolus

Basil

Oh basil...you grow so well for me...what shall I do with thee?

I do wish to make pesto and will probably do so later this week.  I was looking for a simple way to preserve this tasty herb and Mom told me to just dry it and then freeze it.  And so....here it is...
I will let you know how it goes! :)

My Garden..a few weeks later: an overview in pictures

Truth be told..I live on the south shore and my parents live in the center of the island and therefore, sometimes our harvest times are differing.  So...don't judge! :)
Sweet 100s, green peppers, and eggplant across the front.  The gone-wild plant is the spaghetti squash; I planted four of them this year.
My cucumbers look okay...I think I may change the location next year and switch it with the spaghetti squash and see how that works out.  I am getting cucumbers...but never as many as I like :).
My dogs love veggies...

My Father's Garden

Anyone who knows me knows that I drool over my father's garden.  I mean...the man has been gardening for over 40 years but I still swear that he has magical powers...he claims to sing to his plants.  I think I would pay to see this :). Truth be told, he works hard at it and has a talent for it.  He also happens to have a great creative eye and only a few of the following photos are mine.

Here is Dad enjoying the view he has created.

Dad grows it, Mom helps pick it, Mom and Dad cook it.  Check out Mom's stuffed zucchini from last year if you want a great recipe to use for your bat-sized zucchini :).

I have always loved seeing my Father's gardening sneakers in the background when I take this shot.

So...you can see...big shoes to fill.  I am in year four of my journey and I am learning fast.
