Always lay paper before mulch. You are throwing your money away if you don't. I laid mulch last year without paper and wow...look at those weeds go! Replenish? Nope...re-do...yes. I have to admit, this task seemed like it was lasting forever but, there it is, one side is done. I had pulled weeds on the other side but not done anything else with it yet and I hope to lay paper and mulch before it goes nuts again. I feel like I get my fair share of weeds and someone else's as well. I don't know if it has to do with the fertility of the soil plus the fact that the water table is only a few feet down but hot damn....those suckers can grow! I hope my little trick allows me to sit back an watch the
planned plants grow. Another thought...
