Greenhouse 5/29

basil

These are the seeds that I re-seeded because they did not do anything the first time around.   Remember the accidental composted manure instead of potting soil? Well this time, I did it on purpose and they are already sprouting!  I must have done these a week ago Monday, making it the 20th.  Dag-nabit! See, that is why I try to take pictures each time!

This tray is as it was and I did not change anything but the tomatoes finally sprouted.

Cucumbers

Amending the Soil

Today, I did the scary thing and I fertilized.  I took a disposable travel coffee cup and sprinkled lime everywhere and then, I did the same thing with my all-purpose fertilizer.  Now, I have it in my head that if I left it this way, I would be burning my plants and therefore, I proceeded to hose down all that I had done.  This way, the nutrients are on the ground and not on my lovely plants' leaves.

In the vegetable garden, however, I did the same but did not wet it down.  I then proceeded to add peat moss, composted manure, and top soil.  Lastly, I took the aerator and mixed it together.  After all of that, I only got to plant cucumbers.  Another day in the garden is a good day!

Clipping Herbs

This is my cilantro which, for the first time, is growing well.  Because of this reason, I have started harvesting and harvesting often and drying the herb.  The best way to harvest herbs is in the morning and to clip right above the first set of leaves as demonstrated in the last picture.  If you do that, it will grow and grow and bush out.

Carrots

It felt to evil to thin these out since they are doing well now but as the seedlings are...there wouldn't be enough room to develop the carrots if I didn't. I will probably tease more out but I thinned about a bunch after this picture.

Potatoes

Here is that special tater pot I had bought.

Harley wanted in on the picture too...

I also have a few that popped up in the garden since I planted them either last year or the year before and never dug them up....ahh nature.
Here we have a dahlia plant from Dad last year that came up and a potato plant.

Peas

Here is the progression of the peas; they are starting to take off now!

Seedlings in the greenhouse: 5/12

This I decided was going to be a 'take away' for my father on father's day. I don't know if it will produce or be ready in time but I figured,...why not try?
These are to be morning glories.  I planted them today, let's see if they break through in time!

Morning glories, sunflowers, and moon flowers.

Cucumber Marketmore.

Marigolds

I accidentally used the composted manure bag instead of the organic potting mix to start these babies....Well, I put some potting soil on top...time will tell!

String beans.
